Q: DO I HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A CARYL BAKER VISAGE FRANCHISE OWNER?
A: As an owner of your own “Face Spa” you and your team of staff reflect and represent the beauty industry. Having previous experience in esthetics and cosmetic retail sales is helpful, but not mandatory. A positive attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference. We will educate qualified candidates to gain and develop the necessary skills required to succeed in their new business venture.
Q. WHY ARE CARYL BAKER VISAGE FRANCHISES SUCCESSFUL?
A. There are four main reasons. First, we carefully select each location after feasibility studies have been completed. Second, we design each location so that people passing by can see our cosmetics and services being demonstrated (private areas are also offered depending on location size). Third, we offer the highest quality professional products and results-oriented facial services at competitive price points. Fourth, we have tested and refined our franchise model over the past 40+ years. Our strong brand equity and loyal clientele results in a recurring revenue model. Your staff will be trained to provide customers with a full suite of products and services to accommodate their personal goals resulting in higher sales per customer than other beauty destinations.
Q. DO I NEED EXPERIENCE?
A. Previous experience in the industry is an asset, but not a requirement. We provide complete training in all facets of operating your franchise.
Q. ARE THERE STANDARDIZED OPERATING PROCEDURES?
A. Yes. Caryl Baker Visage has developed a franchise system and operating procedures, which are designed to bring maximum benefit to your salon. These procedures are updated on a regular basis. We will provide all daily, weekly and monthly procedures to operate your business, as well as complete product knowledge and selling techniques.
Q. HOW DO I LEARN THE CARYL BAKER VISAGE SYSTEM?
A. We provide a comprehensive 8-10 week training program. Part of this time will be spent at the Beauty School in Toronto where you will be taught product knowledge and how to perform all of the services that we offer. Training will also take place at a Caryl Baker Visage location where you will receive hands on experience and learn all aspects of operating a successful face spa. At the end of this training program, you graduate as a brand new Face Expert – fully versed in all phases of our operation.
Q. WHAT ELSE DOES CARYL BAKER VISAGE PROVIDE?
A. We provide you with many additional services such as:
- New products and formulae that we develop and test
- Continuous consultation and assistance
- Regular visits to your location
- Continued quality control
- Computer data entry
- Merchandising and advertising materials
- Monthly performance analysis
- New promotion ideas and methods
- Continuous updating of your Operations Manual

Q: HOW MUCH DOES A CARYL BAKER VISAGE SALON COST?
A: The total investment can be as low as $200,000 for a store size of 400 to 700 sq. ft.
Q: IS FINANCING AVAILABLE?
A: Yes. We have financing programs in place with two of the largest banks in Canada. However, a portion of the total investment (at least $50,000) will be required in cash.
Q. WILL I RECEIVE CONTINUING ASSISTANCE?
A. Yes. We supply you with our many years of experience managing franchises. Owners will be backed by far larger resources and vaster experience than a franchisee alone could hope to provide. We believe in constant communication, which is the key ingredient to developing any relationship between franchisee and franchisor.
Q: IS LOCATION IMPORTANT?
A: Location is critical. We use our considerable expertise in market analysis, site selection and lease negotiation before a decision is made. As we sign most leases corporately, you can be assured each location must meet our specific requirements.
Q: IS THE BUSINESS SEASONAL?
A: Sales are fairly even throughout the year with the exception of the Winter Holiday season when the malls are busier, at which time you can expect higher weekly sales.
Q: WHERE DO I PURCHASE MY SUPPLIES?
A: All products and supplies are purchased directly from us or from approved suppliers.
Q: CAN I SELL MY CARYL BAKER VISAGE FRANCHISE?
A: Your franchise is your business. If the need arises, you may sell to a prospective buyer who must be approved by us and who must sign a new Franchise Agreement.
Q: HOW LONG DOES IT NORMALLY TAKE TO OPEN A NEW LOCATION?
A: Generally, it takes four weeks to finalize the necessary paperwork and approximately 16 weeks to design a location, secure a contractor after a bidding process and complete the construction. This may vary depending upon the availability of a location.
